Mina wiped a bit of sweat off of her forehead as she adjusted the finishing touches to one of the first products of her new business. Her gloves, shirt, shorts, and just about everything was covered in grease or oil, and that felt just like home to Mina. It felt like she wasn't doing her job if she wasn't getting a bit dirty doing that...but maybe that was just her.
She looked at the finished product, a broken down engine of a car. It was her second official day in business of her shop, Machina Melee, a mechanical shop that worked on a variety of things, from cars to even Iron Soul users with their implants, and she had already been busy with quite a few customers, which was fine to her. It was a lot better than sitting around doing nothing in a mechanical shop. Setting her tools aside, she turned to Sumyr.
"Have you finished the Radiator yet?"
"Just about."
Mina thought it was kind of ironic. Three years ago Sumyr had almost no knowledge in this line of work, and now she seemed really capable. However, she still had a long way to go. Mina wondered if this is what she really wanted to do in life, or if this was simply a hobby for Sumyr. It was a question she might have to ask sometime in the future.
"Finished."
Sumyr said, bringing the Radiator over. Mina started lowering the engine into the car along with the Radiator before deciding to take a short break. They still had a bit of a way to go before they were finished, but they had moved quicker than Mina had thought. Taking a drink of some bottled water, Sumyr spoke.
"So, does this feel any different from when you were working with your family?"
Mina looked at Sumyr a few seconds before answering, wondering why she asked that.
"Of course. There it felt like I had no freedom. Like I was working in the shadow of my father and brothers. Here I feel free. Also, I can make my own modifications to some of the things here."
The engine Mina had worked on had been improved. The customer wanted the problem fixed, but if it went on like it had been going, it would have no doubt happened again, which is why Mina went furthur. It was something her father wouldn't do, as a bit of a ploy to make more money from another breakdown or something. Mina wasn't like that.
Mina stood and started the finishing touches, which was reattaching the engine to the car along with the radiator, attaching it to run through the engine and cylinder head. But before all that, she would put some headphones to her ears and begin to play some music one would hear at clubs and such, starting with Ultrabeat and Basshunter before putting it on shuffle from there. She still had a bit of a ways to go before finishing.
