Mai didn't really notice Narin's metal arm. In fact, she never had the chance to examine people with Neo Angelic mechanical replacements. The way he dressed to cover it up, and the glove never really bothered her. She thought it was some weird style that was popular in the West.
When she told him that she lived in Ginza-ko, the way he acted sounded so sad. She couldn't help but stare at him. Did something about that place bother him? Mai wanted to know why, but she knew that it would be rude to ask such a personal question. She quickly turned away when he asked about her family.
"They died," she replied a little sadly. That was pretty much all she could say. There was no way she could talk about their death in detail. It was too personal and painful to talk about. She dreaded the next question that would come. It was a relief when the food actually came. She picked up her rice bowl and took small bites, savoring the taste.

Okay, Narin had just hit a bad subject, one which obviously pained her to talk about. He would drop it right away, returning to his own food and letting the question drop from their thoughts. Narin's parent's were also gone, and he found it just as hard to talk about them as this girl did. Her answers though, did bring other questions up.
His blue eyes would look up again, staring the girl right in the face. If she were to look up, she would catch Narin looking at her. He would return his gaze to his food, before sitting up as he placed his burger down. His right hand would come to grasp his left forearm, trying harder to move his left side out of her sight completely.
"If you live in Ginza-Ko, why are you here in Habundo?" He asked with curiosity. It was a fair enough question. Most Ginza-Ko villagers never ventured into Habundo or far away from their little meadows at all. Likely as not, she was probably just a bored teenager, but maybe she didn't actually hate technology and its users.
"Not really your kind of place is it?" He added, referring obviously to the fact that Ginza-Koers hated technology.

There was an awkward silence after Mai told him about her parent's death. He probably knew enough to know not to ask anything else. She was pretty glad because she didn't like to be reminded of that. There were enough unhappy things in her life. She wondered if he knew what it was like to lose her family.
She took another bite of rice and chewed slowly. Her head lifted slightly, and she found herself staring at Narin's blue eyes. It always amazed her how foreigners had such amazing eyes. They were always big and they reminded her of the time she went to the beach. She wanted to continue looking at them, but he returned his gaze to his food.
"I come here to work," she managed to reply when he asked her what she was doing in Habundo.
It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't exactly the truth. She did come here to make money, but that making money part usually involved stealing or smuggling or doing not so honest things. Hopefully he wouldn't pursue the topic any further. It was a relief when he asked another question.
"I love Ginza-ko. It's the most beautiful and peaceful place in Tokyo. I just prefer some excitement once in a while."
Mai did love Ginza-ko. She loved how people never relied on technology and worked together to make a living. That didn't mean that she didn't like technology. She thought it was quite useful, but it really didn't belong in Ginza-ko. Usually, she would respect technology users outside of Ginza-ko, but if she saw one of them walking around her home, she would get pretty hostile.

She came here to work? Narin had his suspicions about what field she was in exactly. Any one could have pieced things together, the scruffy clothes, hobo like actions, the fact that she was running from something. they were common signs of a thief, from what he had seen in his life time. He had no intentions of asking anything at the moment. He still had his burger to eat after all, and she just explained that she liked Habundo for its excitement.
His arms would move up from under the table, and they would move towards his burger. The only problem was, his left hand would hit against the underside of the table, and the strap which kept his long left arm sleeve connected to his glove had come undone, and as he reached up to grab his burger, the sleeve would fall down slightly, reavealing his arm.
That cold, silver arm of his.
"Oh..." He said, looking down at his arm. He wouldn't waste any time, even if Mai had probably seen it by now, he would pull the sleeve back down, and fasten it to his glove again. Then, he would look at Mai, a little worried. He wasn't sure how a Ginza-Koer in the city would react to his arm.

It was a relief when he didn't ask more about her little "job". However, there was a slim chance that he suspected something. It was pretty obvious. She looked like some sort of street urchin and she was running away from the hot dog vendor before she met him. Hopefully today would be the last time she would see him.
She picked up her bowl of miso soup and picked out some of the vegtables and tofu with her chopsticks. They went into her mouth before she lifted the bowl to drink the miso soup. She managed to drink everything up in just two large gulps.
Mai put down her chopsticks and held the tray steady when Narin bumped against the underside of the table. Her eyes caught his metal arm, and she held her breath. There was no mistaking it. He had a Neo Angelic arm. There was nothing Mai could do since they were outside Ginza-ko. They were in Habundo, and Narin had every right to be here which meant that she had no reason to fight him. The best thing she decided to do was ignore it and get out of here as quick as possible.
She looked up to avoid looking at his metal arm, but now found herself making eye contact with Narin. He looked a little worried, and that made Mai feel a little guilty. She heard about how people like him were driven out of Ginza-ko just because of Neo Angelic parts.
"I..."
She closed her mouth and looked away. Her hands reached for her rice bowl and chopsticks and she continued to eat.
