The rules stated in this thread are the rules to be followed at all times on this board. Failure to do so will result in penalties and punishments if repeated offences occur. We are all here to have fun, adhering to these rules will allow for us all to do so.

Spam is welcomed in moderation, but anyone caught excessively doing so will be punished. If you feel you absolutely must spam, do so within the official spam thread which will be posted in the OOC section.

For those unaware, spam stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages and can include anything from off topic posting to posting pictures. With this in mind, keep the topic of discussion on topic and do not post unecessary comments or pictures anywhere other than the spam thread.

These are two of the biggest laws within Rping. God modding is taking your character to a higher degree of existance, either by illegally overpowering your character or controlling another person's character without consent. The only character you are legally allowed to control is your own character and your characters NPC's. If you need to control another person's character or NPC, do so only with consent from that person.

Your OOC knowledge and IC knowledge are different. Your character cannot magically know information about another character, event or storyline out of the blue, only by being present in a thread where said information is publically announced. Doing otherwise is known as metagaming and performing such acts are punishably by penalties.

Flaming is simply swearing or insulting another member. Do not do this at any time. We maintain a civilised board and expect that all members respect each other, and whilst we do not expect that everyone automatically be friends, if you have any issues with a normal member, either report it a member of staff or simply avoid that member. Do not lower yourself to the level of flaming.

This rule covers anything from racism, discrimination and bullying, and there is absolutely no excuse for doing so. Evidence of such feats will result in me personally banning you from this forum with little room for trial, and such a punishment will be permanant, full stop.

The default spoken language on this board is English. Any slang or alternative language is fine, so long as adequate translation is given for those of us with lack of bilingual skills, be it through paranthesis or by some form of explanation.

To reduce the risk of cheating, there is to be only one character per board account. Having a secondary character is fine, but a seperate forum account must be created for this.

::Statistics::

Statistics, shortened to "Stats," give us a guideline of how capable your character is at certain aspects of life. Stats themselves are generally used during in character fights, or brawls and need to be taken into consideration when fighting. They are however, merely a guideline and fighting is done so both by use of stats and role play ability.

The 5 stats on this board are;

How strong your character is in terms of attack power. The higher this is, the more damage your character can do in relation to an opponents constitution.

How fast your character is able to move, and how complex the movements you are able to perform are. Obviously, the higher this is, the faster your character is able to move.

Your characters stamina and defensive abilities. The higher this is, the more pain you are able to take, and the longer you can last in a fight.

This is your characters ability to read attacks. A low wisdom means that you'll struggle seeing character attacks if their Dexterity is high, a high wisdom means you'll be able to read enemy attacks and dodge, counter or block accordingly.

Soul is the amount of times you are able to use skills. If you have a low Soul level, then you may only be able to perform skills a number of times and for shorter periods. This also doubles up as the level of complexities on your skills. A low Soul stat means you will only be able to perform basic skills, where as a high stat will open a gateway to more advanced skills.

You are required to copy and paste your base statistics into either your character sheet, or one of your short link threads, as well as to have an up to date version of your stats within your signature at all times.

::Base Statistics and Stat Caps::

When you create a new character, you are automatically given 50 EXP points to spend on your stats as you see fit. Each stat must have a minimum of one in it to begin with, leaving you with 45 exp to spend as you desire.

For example;

Strength:1
Dexterity:1
Constitution:1
Wisdom:1
Soul:1

Remaining Exp:45

You may add the remaining 45 EXP to your stats as you like, however you must follow one rule, this is Stat Caps.

Stat Caps limit the amount of EXP you can have in any one stat, meaning you are not overpowered prematurely. Your stat caps are determined by your member rank, which in turn is determined by your post count.

The members ranks are as follows;

Soul Child: 0 Posts.
Soul User: 200 Posts.
Soul Fighter: 500 Posts.
Soul Sage: 1000 Posts.
Soul Sensei: 2000 Posts.
Soul Brawler: 3000 Posts.

Stat Caps work as follows;

Soul Child: 20 Stat Cap.
Soul User: 25 Stat Cap.
Soul Fighter: 35 Stat Cap.
Soul Sage: 45 Stat Cap.
Soul Sensei: 55 Stat Cap.
Soul Brawler: Uncapped.

In other words, if I am of Soul Child rank, I am not able to extend any one of my stats beyond 20. Due to this, I can either spent my EXP on a different stat or store the EXP to be added later.

Speaking of which, after moving up to the next post rank you automatically recieve 5 free exp to spend on your stats, as a gift for levelling up. This happens each time you level up. In other words, once you have 200 posts and rank up to the "Soul User" rank, you will have 5 exp to spend, the same will happen when you rank up to "Soul Fighter" and so on.

::EXP and Fighting::

Your character can be leveled up by fighting another character. For each fight you participate in, and finish, you gain 1 EXP, regardless of result. For a fight to count as an actual fight, there must have be a total of 5 fight posts between both characters. Fights are judged by means of Win, Loss or Draw, and the outcome is decided by yourself and your opponent. Failure to come to an agreement will mean that a staff member will judge your fight and bestow a result by what he or she considers to be right.

You record your own fights, usual by keeping a record in your signature or short links. Your record should look like this;

Draws:0
Losses:0

Obviously, you edit the numbers as appropriate to you, however note that cheating on either of your fight records, or your stats will come with severe consequences, and we monitor these numbers closely.

The Soul Brawler World uses physics slightly different to that of our world. To put it simply, the physics used in the Soul Brawler universe is similar to that of the Matrix movies, meaning that both in and outside of fights, your character is perfectly able to perform incredible feats, such as jumping large distances, or even running straight up buildings and along walls. The In Character reason for this is due to the bodily advanced that the different Soul's and the Neo Angelic Machinery has on the body, yet you are perfectly welcome to fight with real world physics if you choose to.

::Soul Types::

Your character is determined by a which Soul type he fights with. As a Soul Brawler, this is an important aspect of your characters life. Which soul type your character uses effects certain parts of how you will role play here. It will determine which type of items you can buy, how you can fight, the skills your character will be able to use and also what your character looks like.

There are four playable types of souls, and one non-playable, they are as follows;

Lotus Soul: This Soul is for those characters who fight with the abilities of nature, with no extra ordinary functions like mechanical parts or mutation due to Neo Virus Spores, the children of nature.

Lotus Soul types are also able to master and summon the natural elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water through various forms of soul augmentation and by buying additional items from the item shops. They do however only begin with one element, and anothers must be bought, as stated.

Through use of elements, Lotus soul types are able to send ranged attacks at their opponents. these Soul Users are like alchemists, able to bend objects into different forms. A car may become an army of blades, a mere pebble may become a boulder. A mere sword may also be enflamed with the element of fire, should the Lotus user have such an ability.

Iron Soul: Iron Soul type characters are characters with metal and robotic body replacements who are able to attach various forms of weaponry to their missing body parts to strengthen their bodies inside and outside of fights. These characters are generally hated within the reaches of Ginza-Ko, due to them being a non technology using people.

Neo Soul: These characters have been affected by a special strain of the Neo Virus spores, infecting their soul and allowing them extra ordinary powers. This connection allows for the character to wield and use elements in a far more advanced form to Lotus Soul users. A wind user may focus energy to his body, allowing for super speed and a fire user may en flame his body without any physical damage. These users are the master of the elements and can even transmute one element into another. They, like Lotus soul types can also perform ranged elemental attacks, and just like Lotus souls, they can only use one element at a time.

Neo Virus Soul: These soul users are characters who have been infected by the Neo Virus Spores, a remnant of World War 3, greatly mutating their bodies, allowing them to evolve and advance both physically and mentally. These users have even evolved with animal parts, which have effected their skills and other aspects. They may have the ability to attack with great strength, but this gift also comes with a curse, which may induce them with wolf eyes, or cat ears, if not something else entirely. Most of the time, these soul users appear as normal humans, yet when they enter into a fight, their animalistic qualities will appear, such as them growing claws.

These are the playable types, the singular non playable type is called a "Virus Soul".

Virus Souls are Lotus souls infected with the Neo Virus Spore. When a Lotus soul is infected, his body undergoes a transformation that combines Neo Virus and Lotus soul properties. The victim has the ability to control all of the elements, as well as is able to become animalistic, like the Neo Virus souls.

These souls are extremely powerful, extremely dangerous, and extremely rare. Why? Because 85% of Lotus souls who become infected die. 10% become the beasts that roam Narakuyama and only 5% become Virus souls. These souls are typically exceptionally powerful Lotus souls, ones who have already mastered all elements, and those who have the will to survive, and not become a mindless animal.

Whilst each Soul Type has its advantages and disadvantages, know that the board rules still apply. God modding and meta gaming will not be tolerated. To help ensure this, each Soul type also has its own separate rules, which can be seen below.

::Soul Rules::

For which ever Soul type you choose, you must follow the below rules closely. If you see another member abusing these rules, report them to a staff member immediately.

::Lotus Soul::

Lotus Soul types may choose only one element at creation. To be able to use other elements you must buy that soul from the shop and have it augmented to be able to use another element.

Lotus Soul types are completely normal humans with extra ordinary abilities, as such they are able to equip and use various types of Neo Angelic weaponry and technologies, however these items may only ever act as a stat boosting addition to the Lotus Soul types. Any skills which are bestowed by the item may only be done so for Iron Soul types.

Take into consideration that transmuting one element into another will take considerable soul to do. A low level soul stat will mean that this may only be possible 3 or 4 times and for a short amount of time at that.

When transmuting, you must also consider science. You will not be able to transmute ice in an extremely hot place unless you have a high soul stat, and vice versa. If it is believed that you are godmodding, you will be reported to a member of staff for review.

::Iron Soul::

Iron Soul types may have any number of Neo Angelic body parts, so long as they remain human in some level, i.e. major organs and flesh. At creation, Iron Soul characters may choose one stat boosting effect as a result of their metallic body part. This will need to be looked over and approved by a member of staff. Any additional skills must be bought via Neo Angelic add-ons from the item shop. At creation, an Iron soul may multiply one stat by up to 3x. This multiplication must coincide with their neo-angelic body part, however. IE: If john has a metal arm, and he multiplies his dex by 3, that does not mean he is able to run 3 times as fast, he is simply able to move his metal arm three times as fast.

The same goes for other examples, such as metal legs and strength. Multiplied strength in the legs means that you can kick harder and jump higher, not punch harder.

::Neo Soul::

Neo Soul types may choose only one element at creation. To be able to use other elements you must buy the Neo Soul add-on from the item shop. Neo souls, unlike Lotus souls, take their chosen element into their body to create say, body parts made of rock when a soul skill is activated. This of course allows them to increase their statistics. At creation, Neo souls may have up to 2 stats multiplied for a total of up to 2x between the two skills, IE: str is multiplied by 1.25, and dex is multiplied by 1.75. If only one stat is multiplied, then it may be doubled outright.

::Neo Virus Soul::

Neo Virus Souls must choose their skill base from their mutated body parts, however in doing so you must provide an adequate reason, as well as an appropriate curse in regards to body parts and ability.

As stated in the soul description, having super speed due to animal abilities must come with an equal curse, such as animal body parts. At creation, a Neo Virus soul will not be able to turn (if their chosen animal is a wolf) into a full werewolf, they will simply have more hair on their bodies, perhaps sharper teeth, and claws. The total multiplication of stats works as it does with Neo Souls: 2x over 2 stats.

::Soul Use Guidelines::

Due to the nature of the board, the possibility for godmodding and metagaming is quite high. We operate on a term of trust towards our members, and thusly we expect that you have the common decency and respect to roleplay in a sensible and considerative manner towards the members of this board. Whilst this is the case, we are aware that this may not be completely possible hence, below is a general guideline towards the limits of soul skills and abilities relative to the soul stat level.

Soul Stat: 5-10: Simple summoning and use of an element or skill, with around 3 uses before energy depletion.

Soul Stat: 11-15:Simple summoning and use of an element or skill, with around 5-8 uses before energy depletion. Skills at this level are stronger and more effective.

Soul Stat: 16-20: Simple summoning and use of an element or skill, with around 8-12 uses before energy depletion. At this level, skills become more advanced and the potential for upgrading and learning new skills becomes available.

Soul Stat: 21-25: Moderate level of use with an element or skill, with around 15-18 to uses before energy depletion. At this level, skills become more destruction and can have wider effects on the environment around you.

Soul Stat: 26-30: Moderate level of use with an element or skill, with around 18-23 uses before energy depletion. At this level, skills can cause vast amounts of damage to lower level fighters depending on their physical stats.

Whilst these are only a rough guideline, please use your responsible imagination with figuring out the rest. Note that this guide, as stated is only a guideline to how things work, as such the boundaries stated here are not written in stone.

::Soul Skills::

Soul skills are abilities which your character is able to call upon during a fight, or even out of a fight if he needs to. Its strength, and its duration is affected by how high your soul stat is. Soul skills are not a fundamental part of this board, if you so choose you may create your character without him or her having a skill, yet should you choose to have a skill you must complete the below form and add it into your character sheet.

Your skill depends on which Soul Type you are.

Skill Name: The name of your skill/ability.

Skill Description: This is where you explain exactly what your skill does, in full detail from how you activate it, its effects and what it looks like when you perform this skill.

Strengths: If your skill has any particular strengths, state them more specifically here rather than in your skill description. This will allow us to know exactly where it helps your character RP wise.

Weaknesses: Just like strengths, your skill must also have subsequent weaknesses. Here is where you state them to allow us to see exactly where the skill is flawed. You must have a weakness of some form in here to avoid overpowered skills.

Stat Advances:If your skill allows any stat advances, state them here. However note that at stage 1, your stat advances cannot exceed x1.5 and only two stats can be affected.

Just like your character sheet, your skill will be looked over. If you are told to edit, do so immediately before beginning to Roleplay.

::Level Ups::

To advance your skill, you must level up. To do this you must follow a specific process. Your ability to level up is determined by three things; your post rank, your soul stat and your money. To level up, you must have a certain amount in your soul stat, whilst being at the adequate post rank. Finally, you must have enough money to purchase the level up itself.

The level up, as well as further information can be found within the item shop.

::Soul Police Guidelines::

The Soul Police are the special task force created to deal with Soul Brawlers who fight illegally. The majority of the time, their primary objective is to maintain and keep the peace within the city by stopping fights and acts of violence, however, at some points they may be required to carry out other tasks as directed by President Roujin Kotosuma. In general, the purpose of a Soul Police Character is to drive and develop the story or plot, however personal story lines unique to the Soul Police character is still welcomed.

Below you will find all necessary information in regards to become a Soul Police Officer.

::Base Stats::

Soul Police operate in the same manner as other members. They gain stats in the exact same way, however rather than starting with 50 Exp for their base statistics, they start with 80, to be distributed as desired.

::Statistic Caps::

Soul Police characters are still required to have a minimum of 1 in their base stas, however they are not bound to the same statistic cap system as normal characters. They have no maximum stat limitation, and can continue to add to any stat without worrying about a limit.

Whilst this is the case, Soul Police characters will not receive any EXP bonuses upon post grade level up, meaning when they level up from Soul Child to Soul User and so forth, they will not receive the bonus gift of 5 EXP.

::Items and EXP::

Soul Police characters may still buy items from the item shop like any other character. They may also receive EXP and items from tournaments, quests and Soul Brawler activities like any other member.

::Activity, Dedication and Determination::

Whilst we do want you to have fun, Soul Police characters are fundamental to the advance and running of the board story, as such, upon being accepted as a Soul Police Officer, we require that you stay active, show dedication to playing your roles and carrying out your responsibilites, and general show a will to working to advance the story.

If a Soul Police Officer does not show these three characteristics, and has no good reason for doing so, we will not hesistate in revoking the Soul Police account status.

::Application::

To become a Soul Police Officer, post your character sheet into the normal character sheet section. Make sure you have read this post thoroughly. Once done, PM myself with a link to your character sheet, with the reason why you wish to become a Soul Police Officer. Should everything be in order, you will be made a Soul Police Officer within the next few days, and your character sheet will be moved to the Soul Police bio's section.
